Low and Johnson is pleased to announce an affiliation with J. Michael Low, a founder and senior partner with the insurance specialty law firm of Low & Childers of Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Low is the former Director of the Arizona Department of Insurance (1980-84); the former Director of the Arizona Department of Administration (1984-85); a former adjunct Professor of Insurance Law at ASU; a former partner with the law firm of Jones Skelton and Hochuli (1985-90); and founder of Low & Childers (1990-current).

Mr. Low has testified or prepared reports on insurance coverage and claims issues in over 65 cases in state and federal courts in Arizona, Nevada and elsewhere. He is a property and casualty producer licensed by the Arizona Department of Insurance and is available to consult and assist at no additional cost to Low & Johnson clients as part of our commitment to providing the highest quality service to our clients and prospects.

Jamie has been in the insurance business in Arizona since 1977. She worked for the St. Paul Insurance Companies as an underwriter and manager in the Commercial Property & Casualty and Medical Professional divisions. In 1990 she joined Willis-Corroon Corporation of Arizona, an international insurance brokerage firm, as Vice-President of marketing and thereafter worked as a commercial account executive. During that time she was actively involved in obtaining fronting and reinsurance for captive insurers working together with Willis (Cayman) Captive Managers.

She is currently a principal and shareholder with Low & Johnson, Inc., which she formed in 1999. She owned Captive Insurance Managers of Phoenix, LLC, a captive management firm and sold that company to USA Risk Services in 2006. Jamie currently sits on the Captive Insurance Board for Honda North America.

She has been President of the Arizona Captive Insurance Association and President of the Independent Agents Association. Jamie holds a degree in management and is a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); she has held various board positions with this organization. She is also a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).

Brenda began her insurance career with St. Paul Insurance Company in Phoenix in 1978. She joined the independent insurance agency force in 1980 and worked with several brokers and agencies providing commercial lines customer service, sales, and automation systems management.

In 1999, Brenda and Jamie formed Low & Johnson, Inc. Brenda's primary focus in the agency is risk management, administration, and systems management.

Brenda is the past chairperson of the Far West Technical Conference, and Technical Conference Committee for the Independent Agents and Brokers Association of Arizona. She received the AAMGA Association Achievement Award in 2000. She is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and a Certified Risk Manager (CRM).

Mike Low co-founded the law firm of Low & Childers, P.C., in April of 1990. His practice principally includes representation of insurers, insurance associations and businesses with insurance issues before the Arizona Legislature, the Arizona Department of Insurance, and other governmental agencies both inside and outside the state of Arizona. His practice also includes a wide range of insurance-related representation, including litigation consulting and the formation, licensing and acquisition of insurers, including captive insurers. He has testified as an expert witness in over 65 matters in state and federal court involving insurance coverage and claims issues and has a practice which includes both reinsurance and insurance litigation and arbitration matters.

Mr. Low has served as an adjunct professor of law at the Arizona State University College of Law teaching the third year course on insurance law. He is also the principal lobbyist for the Arizona Captive Insurance Association and has participated in the formation of 20 Arizona and 15 offshore captives.

Prior to the formation of the Low & Childers, Mr. Low enjoyed a lengthy tenure in public service. Most notably, he served in the capacity of Director of the Arizona Department of Insurance (1980-1984) and thereafter as Director of the Arizona Department of Administration (1984-1985), as well as Chairman of the Governor's Cabinet and Chairman of the Governor's Regulatory Review Council. Before founding Low & Childers, Mr. Low was a partner with the Phoenix law firm of Jones, Skelton & Hochuli (1985-1990).

Mr. Low is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and the Maricopa County Bar Association. He is listed in the Reinsurance Arbitrators Directory and is a member of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel. He graduated from Arizona State University, School of Law, Juris Doctor, cum laude, 1973 and the University of Minnesota, B.A., 1970.

Mike Low has a property and casualty insurance license and is available to assist Low & Johnson’s clients. He will offer his consulting service at no additional cost to Low & Johnson clients regarding coverage analysis, new insurance products and recent trends in the insurance marketplace.
